PRAYER SERVICE ONE

THEME:Lord, Have Mercy

OPENING HYMN

OPENING PRAYER

Leader:

Almighty God, when you created us for the fullness of divine life, death was not in your plan. Death came as the sad consequence of our disobedience to your love and your Holy Will. We implore your mercy on behalf of  N....   who has left this world. Father, forgive him/her and mercifully grant him/her the eternal joy and peace of your Kingdom. We ask this through Christ our Lord.

All: AMEN

THE WORD OF GOD

Luke 12:13-21

A man in the crowd said to Jesus, "Master, tell my brother to give me a share of our inheritance."

Jesus answered him, "My friend, who appointed me your judge, or the arbitrator of your claims?" Then, he said to them, "Watch, and be on your guard against avarice of any kind, for life does not consist of possessions, even when someone has more than he needs."

Then, He told them a parable, "There was once a rich man, who, having had a good harvest from his land, thought to himself, "What am I to do? I have not enough room to store my crops." He told himself; "I will pull down my barns and build bigger ones, and store all my grain and my goods in them, and I will say to my soul: My soul, you have plenty of good things laid by for many years to come; take things easy, eat, drink, have a good time." But God said to him, "Fool! This very night the demand will be made for your soul; and this hoard of yours, whose will it be then?" so it is when someone stores up treasure for himself instead of becoming rich in the sight of God

REFLECTION

This world is not our eternal home; we are meant for the eternal kingdom of Heaven. Our vocation on earth is to live lives that are always pleasing to the Father. Let us reflect for a moment on the departure of our brother/sister  N....

This too will happen to us sooner or later. Have we not more often placed our interests in material things than that of spiritual?

What have we done about our life of faith, our family life and personal prayer life? How much time and interest do we give to God? Realising our failures, let us now seek God and implore his mercy! Pardon us, O Lord, for all our faults!

PRAYER SERVICE TWO

THEME: "We offer   N....   to the Lord"

OPENING HYMN

OPENING PRAYER

God, Our Loving Father, we entrust to you our loved one   N....   . who has departed from this earthly life. You are the source of life; it is to you that all life will return.

Grant   N....   your eternal light and joy; shower upon the family members and relatives that he/she left behind with your comfort and consolation. We ask this through Christ our Lord

All: AMEN

THE WORD OF GOD

John 16:20-22

Jesus said, "In all truth I tell you, you will be weeping and wailing while the world will rejoice; you will be sorrowful, but your sorrow will turn to joy. A woman in childbirth suffers, because her time has come; but when she has given birth to the child, she forgets the suffering, in her joy that a human being has been born into the world. So it is with you: you are sad now, but I shall see you again, and that joy no one shall take from you."

(PAUSE)

REFLECTION

We come here to accompany the family members and close relatives of   N....   . They are in grief and sorrow because they have lost their loved one. Yet, death is a reality we cannot avoid; all of us have to face it someday. Jesus, who has conquered death, tells us that this experience of pain, sorrow and tears is only for a time.

For those who believe in Him, there is fullness of life and joy after death. God gave our loved one   N....   to us; he has taken him/her back. In faith and with confidence, let us entrust   N....   to God our Loving Father. In this act of trust, let us humbly bow down to God's Holy Will.

PRAYER SERVICE THREE

THEME: "Your brother/sister will live"

OPENING HYMN

OPENING PRAYER

Leader:

All powerful and ever-living God, we come together to offer you this prayer of praise on behalf of   N....   who has died in faith. Through the resurrection of your Son, you assure us that those who believe even though they die shall live. Brighten up with this hope the lives of the family members of   N....   and grant our departed brother/sister the joy of eternal life. We ask this through Christ our Lord.

All: AMEN

THE WORD OF GOD

John 11:20-27

When Martha heard that Jesus was coming, she went out to meet him. Mary remained in the house. Martha said to Jesus, "Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died, but even now I know that God will grant whatever you ask of him"

Jesus said to her, "Your brother will rise again." Martha said,"I know he will rise again at the resurrection on the last day". Jesus said, "I am the resurrection. Anyone who believes in me, even though that person dies, will live, and whoever lives and believes in me will never die. Do you believe this?" "Yes, Lord", she said, "I believe that you are the Christ, the Son of God, the one who was to come into the world."

(PAUSE)

REFLECTION

Jesus' resurrection is so powerful that it has destroyed the power of Satan and sin. Where sin brought death, Jesus' resurrection restored life. To those of us who mourn over the departure of   N....,   Jesus says: 'Your brother/sister shall live... do you believe this?' Let us pluck up our courage and with renewed faith and hope, look beyond our sorrow by proclaiming with Martha, 'Yes, Lord, I believe!'

PRAYER SERVICE FOUR

THEME:"Watch and Pray"

OPENING HYMN

OPENING PRAYER

Leader:

God, Our heavenly Father, you have taught us through Your Son that we do not have a lasting city here on earth. Therefore, we should always watch and pray, and be ready because we do not know when you will call us. May this departure of   N....   from this life prompt us to be always awake in faith, prayer and good works. In your mercy and love, grant   N....   eternal rest and peace. We ask this through Christ our Lord.

All: AMEN

THE WORD OF GOD

Matthew 24:42-44

Jesus said, "So stay awake, because you do not know the day when your master is coming. You may be quite sure of this, that if the householder had known at what time of the night the burglar would come, he would have stayed awake and would not have allowed anyone to break through the wall of his house. Therefore, you too must stand ready because the Son of man is coming at an hour you do not expect."

(PAUSE)

REFLECTION

As we think of our departed brother/sister, it is good to ask ourselves: 'Will I be ready when my turn comes? Will I be at peace with God and others in the face of death? Will I be satisfied that I have led a meaningful life here on earth? Or have I been living in fear, frustration and misery? To be always ready means to have a firm life of faith, an active prayer life with constant acts of charity - this is Jesus' code Word: "Be always ready." While he was in this world, Jesus was always prepared in facing death.

PRAYER SERVICE FIVE

THEME:"You shall be with me"

OPENING HYMN

OPENING PRAYER

Leader:

Almighty and ever-living God, you have created us to enjoy eternal life of joy and happiness. Even when sin entered into our lives, you restored us to fit into your original plan through the redeeming power of Jesus your Son. As we pray for   N....   lift our hearts and minds to look forward always to the joys you have prepared for us in heaven. We ask this through Christ our Lord.

All: AMEN

THE WORD OF GOD

Luke 23:32-43

Now they were also leading out two others, criminals, to be executed with Jesus. When they reached the place called The Skull, there they crucified him and the two criminals, one on his right, the other on his left. Jesus said, "Father, forgive them; they do not know what they are doing." Then, they cast lots to share out his clothing.

The people stayed there watching. As for the leaders, they jeered at him with the words, "He saved others, let him save himself if he is the Christ of God, the Chosen One."

The soldiers mocked him too, coming up to him, offering him vinegar, and saying, "If you are the king of the Jews, save yourself." Above him there was an inscription: "This is the King of the Jews."

One of the criminals hanging there abused him: "Are you not the Christ? Save yourself and us as well." But the other spoke up and rebuked him, "You got no fear of God at all?" he said, "but in our case we deserved it: we are paying for what we did. But this man has done nothing wrong." Then he said, "Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom." He answered him, "In truth, I tell you, today you will be with me in paradise.

(PAUSE)

REFLECTION

Jesus stands out as the great sign of HOPE to the whole world. The whole of creation was in a state of utter helplessness and hopelessness as the result of SIN: Yet, how beautifully and confidently Jesus interceded before his Father on behalf of the fallen world: "Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do.

" To those who have repented, there is a promise of bright future - eternal life of joy with God. This is what the repentant thief received: "This day, you will be with me in paradise." Yes, there is a HOPE, LIFE, and JOY awaiting all those who died in Christ.

THE WORD OF GOD

Tobit 2:1-8

I returned home and my wife, Anna was restored to me with my son Tobias. At our feast of Pentecost (the feast of Weeks) there was a good dinner. I took my place for the meal; the table was brought to me and various dishes were brought. I then said to my son, Tobias, "Go, my child, and seek out some poor, loyal-hearted man among our brother exiled in Nineveh, and bring him to share my meal. I will wait until you come back, my child."

So Tobias went out to look for some poor man among our brothers, but he came back again and said, "Father!" I replied, "What is it, my child?"

He went on "Father, one of our nation has just been murdered; he has been strangled and then thrown down in the market place; he is there still." I sprang up at once, left my meal untouched, took the man from the market place and laid him in one of my rooms, waiting until sunset to bury him.

I came in again and washed myself and ate my bread in sorrow, remembering the words of the prophet Amos concerning Bethel: "I shall turn your festivals into mourning and all your singing into lamentation."

And I wept. When the sun was down, I went and dug a grave and buried him. My neighbours laughed and said,"See! He is not afraid any more." (You must remember that a price had been set on my head earlier for this very thing) "Once before he had flee, yet here he is, beginning to bury the dead again."

(PAUSE)

REFLECTION

Dear friends, let us thank the Lord for giving all of us the generosity to sympatise and pray with the family of   N....

The word of God reminds us that caring for those in sorrow and pain, even burying the dead is a praiseworthy work of mercy before the Lord. we remember Jesus telling us that whatever we do even to the least of his brethren, we do it to Him! May our prayerful presence console and encourage the bereaved family of   N....   We are confident that the Lord will favourably answer our prayers and grant eternal light and peace to our brother/sister   N....

PRAYER SERVICE SEVEN

THEME: Hope: "I am the Resurrection and the Life "

OPENING HYMN

OPENING PRAYER

Leader:

God, our heavenly Father, you have given us hope of life through the resurrection of your Son. We gather here with confidence praying for our brother/sister   N....   that he/she may share in the eternal life you have promised. In your mercy, wipe away all traces of pain and sorrow from the hearts of the bereaved relatives and family members; fill our lives with the joy and hope of resurrection. We ask this through Christ our Lord.

All: AMEN

THE WORD OF GOD

1 Thessalonians 4:13-18

We want you to be quite certain, brothers, about those who have fallen asleep, to make sure that you do not grieve for them, as others do who have no hope. We believe that Jesus died and rose again, and that in the same way God will bring with him those who have fallen asleep in Jesus.

We can tell you this from the Lord's own teaching, that we who are still alive for the Lord's coming will not have any advantage over those who have fallen asleep.

At the signal given by the voice of the Archangel and the trumpet of God, the Lord himself will come down from heaven; those who have died in Christ will be the first to rise, and only after that shall we who remain alive be taken up in the clouds, together with them, to meet the Lord in the air.

This is the way we shall be with the Lord forever. With such thoughts as these, then, we should encourage one another.

(PAUSE)

REFLECTION

Jesus has died and has risen. This is an historical fact. This is the very foundation of the faith of Christianity. All those who die in Christ will have the similar experience of rising to new life. We recall Jesus' words: "I have come, so that they may have life and have it to the full." Although we feel sad that   N....   has passed away let us listen to Jesus who is challenging us:

" I am the resurrection. If anyone believes in me, even though he dies, he will live, and whoever lives and believes in me will never die. Do you believe this?" Like Martha, let us answer: "Yes Lord. We believe." With those words let us comfort and console one another.

Meditation on the Mysteries of the Rosary (Mon)

The 1st Joyful Mystery
The Annunciation

Mary welcomed God's Word whole-heartedly at the Annunciation. Let us ask the Lord's pardon for the times we and our brother/sister had failed to welcome generously God's Word of love, peace, reconciliation and conversion.

The 2nd Joyful Mystery

The Visitation was a beautiful act of charity on the part of Mary. Perhaps during the time when   N....   was sick, we failed to show charity in caring for him/her by our lack of visit. Let us pray for the Lord's forgiveness.

The 3rd Joyful Mystery
The Birth of Jesus

Birth means life! Jesus' birth is remembered every year by the whole world when we celebrate Christmas. We remember our own birthdays too. But do we ever remember the day of our NEW BIRTH the day of our Baptism? Have we been proud of this new birth? Have we supported one another to live up to our vocation as God's chosen one? We ask for the Lord's mercy for ourselves and our brother/sister.

The 4th Joyful Mystery
The Presentation of the Child Jesus in the temple

Jesus came to fulfil his Father's plan of bringing salvation to the world. It was proper that He was presented to God. All of us as well as   N....   were presented to God on the day of our Baptism, but sadly, through our human frailty, we are aware of our frequent failures to fulfil the Father's Holy Will. Let us pray that we may rise up to the challenge of faith and each day translate that faith into our Christian living.

OUR FATHER,
HAIL MARY (10x)

There were times when we found ourselves drifting away, or lost in our life of faith or our Christian living yet, we are in no hurry to put things right or to correct one another. Let us implore God's mercy for ourselves and for our brother/sister   N....

Meditation on the Mysteries of the Rosary (Tue)

The 1st Sorrowful Mystery
The Agony in the Garden

It was a very trying period in the life of Jesus. He felt terribly isolated: His disciples were sleeping; His Father seemed to be silent. Jesus felt the horror and weight of sin and suffering. Yet He was prepared to face all situations. He submitted to His Father's plan with these words: Your will be done! Not mine! Although we experience deep sorrow in the departure of our brother/sister may we always surrender to God's will in our lives.

OUR FATHER,
HAIL MARY (10x)
GLORY BE

Requiem prayer

Eternal rest grant unto N.... O Lord
And let the perpetual light shine upon him/her.

May he/she rest in peace.
AMEN

May his/her soul and the souls of all the faithful departed through the Mercy of God, rest in peace.
AMEN

The 2nd Sorrowful Mystery
The Scourging at the Pillar

Jesus accepted all the humiliation and torture silently and patiently. Let us offer to the Father whatever pain, suffering, sickness   N....   had undergo especially during those last moments of his/her life. We offer also the sorrows, tensions, pains of the bereaved family members and relatives. May our brother/sister rest in the peace of the Lord.

AMEN

May his/her soul and the souls of all the faithful departed through the Mercy of God, rest in peace.
AMEN

The 3rd Sorrowful Mystery
The Crowning with Thorns

Jesus the King of love had to undergo all insults and mockery. The world made fun of Him as a king; but He was indeed King, yet he submitted Himself in prayer to the Father's will for our redemption. Let us pray that we may not be discouraged in the face of the little thorns of pain, disappointment, even loss of our dear ones. Jesus, the King of love, reigns. All those who live and die in his love will also reign in and through Him.

OUR FATHER,
HAIL MARY (10x)
GLORY BE

Requiem prayer

Eternal rest grant unto N.... O Lord
And let the perpetual light shine upon him/her.

May he/she rest in peace.
AMEN

May his/her soul and the souls of all the faithful departed through the Mercy of God, rest in peace.
AMEN

The 4th Sorrowful Mystery
The Carrying of the Cross

The heavy Cross was laid upon the shoulder of Jesus. He accepted it for the love and salvation of all of us. May the family and relatives of   N....   continue to carry their Cross daily and follow Jesus faithfully

OUR FATHER,
HAIL MARY (10x)
GLORY BE

The 5th Sorrowful Mystery
The Crucifixion and Death of Our Lord, Jesus Christ

The 2nd Sorrowful Mystery
The Scourging at the Pillar

Being tied to the pillar, Jesus' movements were restricted. He took upon himself the loss of freedom yet we brought upon ourselves the same loss of freedom through our sins. He patiently underwent insult, mockery and ridicule to set us free from the shame of sin. Let us pray for patience in our moments of suffering, pain and loss.

The 3rd Sorrowful Mystery

The 4th Sorrowful Mystery
The Carrying of the Cross

It was Jesus' journey to death. He had to carry upon his shoulders the very instrument of his death. He has told us, that the way of the Cross is inevitable, if we want to possess life. Let us present to the Lord all the sufferings and crosses N.... endured in order to possess eternal life in Him.

1. ABIDE WITH ME

Abide with me, fast falls the eventide,
The darkness deepens, Lord with me abide!
When other helpers fail and comforts flee,
Help of the helpless, O abide with me!

Swift to its close ebbs out life's little day;
Earth's joys grow dim, its glories pass away;
Change and decay in all around I see;
O Thou who changest not, abide with me!

I need Thy presence ev'ry passing hour,
What but Thy grace can foil the tempter's pow'r?
Who, like Thyself, my guide and stay can be?
Thro' cloud and sunshine, O abide with me!

Hold Thou Thy cross before my closing eyes,
Shine through the gloom and point me to the skies;
Heaven's morning breaks, and earth's vain shadows flee!
In life, in death, O Lord, abide with me!

2. AMAZING GRACE

Amazing Grace! How sweet the sound,
that saves a wretch like me.
I once was lost but now I'm found
was blind, but now I see

T'was grace that taught my heart to fear
and grace my fears relieved.
How precious did that grace appear
the hour I first believed

Through many dangers, toils and snares,
I have already come.
'Tis grace that brought me safe thus far
and grace will lead me home

The Lord has promised good to me
His word my hope secures
He will my shield and portion be
as long as life endures.

3. AS THE DEER PANTS FOR THE WATER

As the deer pants for the water,
so my soul longs after You
You alone are my heart's desire,
and I long to worship You.

You alone are my strength, my shield,
To You alone may my spirit yield.
You alone are my heart's desire,
and I long to worship You.

I want You more than gold or silver,
Only You can satisfy.
You alone are the real joy-giver
And the apple of my eye.

You alone are my strength, my shield,
To You alone may my spirit yield.
You alone are my heart's desire,
and I long to worship You.

You're my friend and You're my brother,
Even though You are a King,
I love You more than any other,
So much more than anything.

You alone are my strength, my shield,
To You alone may my spirit yield.
You alone are my heart's desire,
and I long to worship You.

4. BEYOND THE SUNSET

Beyond the sunset, O blissful morning
When with our Saviour heav'n is begun
Earth's toiling ended, O glorious dawning,
Beyond the sunset, when day is done

Beyond the sunset, no clouds will gather,
No storm will threaten, no fears annoy,
O day of gladness, O day unending,
Beyond the sunset, eternal joy.

Beyond the sunset, a hand will guide me,
To God, the Father, whom I adore,
His glorious Presence, his words of welcome,
Will be my portion on that fair shore!

Beyond the sunset, O glad reunion,
With our dear loved ones who've gone before
In that fair homeland and we'll know no parting
Beyond the sunset, for ever more.
Beyond the sunset, for ever more. (end)

5. BLESSED ASSURANCE

Blessed Assurance, Jesus is mine
O, what a foretaste of glory divine
heir of salvation, purchase of God
born of His spirit wash'd in His blood.

This is my story, this is my song
praising my Saviour all the day long
This is my story, this is my song
praising my Saviour all the day long

Perfect submission, perfect delight
visions of rapture now burst of my sight
Angels descending bring from above
echoes of mercy, whispers of love

This is my story, this is my song
praising my Saviour all the day long
This is my story, this is my song
praising my Saviour all the day long

Perfect submission - all is at rest
I in my Saviour am happy and blest
watching and waiting; looking above
filled with his goodness, lost in His love.

This is my story, this is my song
praising my Saviour all the day long
This is my story, this is my song
praising my Saviour all the day long

6. CLEANSE ME, O GOD

Cleanse me, O God, and know my heart today
try me, O Saviour, know my thoughts, I pray
See if there be, some wicked way in me
cleanse me from every sin and set me free

I praise Thee, Lord, for cleansing me from sin,
fulfil Thy Word and make me pure within;
fill me with fire where I once burned with shame
grant my desire to magnify Thy Name.

Lord, take my life, and make it wholly Thine,
fill my poor heart with Thy great love divine.
Take all my will, my passion, self and pride,
I now surrender, Lord, in me abide!

7. JUST A CLOSER WALK

We are weak but Thou art strong,
Jesus, keep us from all wrong
We'll be satisfied as long,
As we walk, let us walk close with Thee

Just a closer walk with Thee;
grant it, Jesus, this our plea
Daily walking close with Thee;
Let it be, dear Lord, let it be.

Through this world of toil and snares,
If we falter, Lord, who cares?
Who with us our burden shares?
None but Thee, dear Lord, none but Thee.

Just a closer walk with Thee;
grant it, Jesus, this our plea
Daily walking close with Thee;
Let it be, dear Lord, let it be.

When our feeble life is o'er,
Time for us will be no more,
Guide us gently, safely home,
To Thy Kingdom's shore, to Thy shore.

Just a closer walk with Thee;
grant it, Jesus, this our plea
Daily walking close with Thee;
Let it be, dear Lord, let it be.

God gives his people strength
If we believe in his way, he's swift to repay
all those who bear the burden of the day
God gives his people strength

God gives his people hope
If we but trust in his word, our prayers are always heard
He warmly welcomes anyone who's erred
God gives his people hope

God gives his people love
If we but open wide our hearts, he's sure to do his part
he's always the first to make a start
God gives his people love.

9. GOD OF MERCY

God of mercy and compassion
Look with pity upon me!
Father! Let me call Thee Father
'Tis thy child returns to Thee

Jesus! Lord! I ask for mercy
let me not implore in vain!
All my sins I now detest them
help me not to sin again

By my sins I have deserved,
death and endless misery
hell with all its pains and torments
and for all eternity

Jesus! Lord! I ask for mercy
let me not implore in vain!
All my sins I now detest them
help me not to sin again

By my sins I have abandoned,
right and claim to heaven above
where the saints rejoice forever
in a boundless sea of love

Jesus! Lord! I ask for mercy
let me not implore in vain!
All my sins I now detest them
help me not to sin again

See, our Saviour, bleeding, dying,
on the cross of Calvary;
to that Cross my sins have nailed Him
yet He bleeds and dies for me

Jesus! Lord! I ask for mercy
let me not implore in vain!
All my sins I now detest them
help me not to sin again

Have Thine own way, Lord, have Thine own way,
thou art the Potter, I am the clay
Mould me and made me after Thy will
While I am waiting, yielded and still.

Have Thine own way, Lord, have Thine own way,
search me and try me, Master, today
Whiter than snow, Lord, wash me just now,
as in Thy presence humbly I bow

Have Thine own way, Lord, have Thine own way,
wounded and weary, help me I pray
Power, all power, surely is Thine
touch me and heal me, Saviour Divine.

11. HOW GREAT THOU ART

O Lord, my God, when I in awesome wonder
consider all the works Thy hands hath made
I see the stars, I hear the rolling thunder
thy power throughout the universe displayed.

Then sings my soul, my Saviour God to Thee,
How great Thou art, how great Thou art,
Then sings my soul, my Saviour God to Thee,
How great Thou art, how great Thou art,

And when I think, that God, His Son not sparing,
sent Him to die, I scarce can take it in
That on the Cross, my burden gladly bearing
he bled and died to take away my sin.

Then sings my soul, my Saviour God to Thee,
How great Thou art, how great Thou art,
Then sings my soul, my Saviour God to Thee,
How great Thou art, how great Thou art,

When Christ shall come, with shouts of acclamation
and take me home, what joy shall fill my heart
Then I shall bow, in humble adoration
and there proclaim,'My God, how great Thou art'

Then sings my soul, my Saviour God to Thee,
How great Thou art, how great Thou art,
Then sings my soul, my Saviour God to Thee,
How great Thou art, how great Thou art,

He makes all things beautiful in his time.
Lord, please show me everyday,
as you're teaching me your way,
That you do just what you say, in your time.

In your time, in your time,
You make all things beautiful in your time.

13. I AM THE BREAD OF LIFE

I am the bread of life,
he who comes to me shall not hunger,
He who believes in me shall not thirst.
No one can come to me, unless the Father draw him.

And I will raise him up (Repeat 3x)
On the last day.

The bread that I will give is my flesh for the life of the world
And he who eats of this bread,
He shall live forever, he shall live forever.

And I will raise him up (Repeat 3x)
On the last day.

Unless you eat of the flesh of the Son of Man,
And drink of his blood, and drink of his blood,
You shall not have life within you.

And I will raise him up (Repeat 3x)
On the last day.

I am the Resurrection. I am the Life.
He who believes in me, even if he dies
He shall live for ever.

And I will raise him up (Repeat 3x)
On the last day.

14. LOSE YOURSELF IN ME

Loose yourself in Me and you will find yourself
Loose yourself in Me and you will find new life.
Loose yourself in Me and you will find yourself
And you will live, yes you will live in My love.

Unless a grain of wheat, falls into the ground,
It still remains but a grain of wheat
But if it falls and dies, then it bears much fruit,
So it is with those who lose themselves in Me

will descend upon your life, and make you whole.

Jesus, oh Jesus. Come and fill your lambs.
Jesus, oh Jesus. Come and fill your lambs.

O come and sing this song with gladness,
As your hearts are filled with joy
Lift your hands in sweet surrender to His Name
O give Him all your tears and sadness,
Give Him all your years of pain,

Ye who are weary, come home,
Earnestly, tenderly Jesus is calling
Calling, O sinner, come home!

Why should we worry when Jesus is pleading,
Pleading for you and for me?
Why should we linger and heed not His mercies,

18. JESUS KEEP ME NEAR THE CROSS

Jesus keep me near the cross,
there's a precious fountain;
Free to all a healing stream,
flows from Calvary's mountain.

In the Cross, in the Cross,
Be my glory ever.
Till my raptured soul shall find,
rest beyond the river.

Near the cross a trembling soul,
love and mercy found me;
There the bright and morning star,
shed its beams around me.

In the Cross, in the Cross,
Be my glory ever.
Till my raptured soul shall find,
rest beyond the river.

Near the Cross, O Lamb of God,
bring its scenes before me
Help me walk from day to day,
with it's shadow o'er me.

In the Cross, in the Cross,
Be my glory ever.
Till my raptured soul shall find,
rest beyond the river.

Near the Cross I'll watch and wait,
hoping, trusting ever,
Till I reach the golden strand,
Just beyond the river.

In the Cross, in the Cross,
Be my glory ever.
Till my raptured soul shall find,
rest beyond the river.

19. NEARER, MY GOD

Nearer, my God, to Thee, nearer to Thee;
E'en though it be a cross that raiseth me,
Still all my song shall be, nearer my God, to Thee,
Nearer, my God, to Thee, nearer to Thee.

Deep in Thy Sacred Heart, let me abide.
Thou that hast bled for me, sorrowed and died.
Sweet shall my weeping be, grief surely leading me,
Nearer, my God, to Thee, nearer to Thee.

Friends may depart from me,
Night may come down;
Clouds of adversity darken and frown;
Still through my tears I'll see,
Hope gently leading me,
Nearer, my God, to Thee, nearer to Thee

20. OLD RUGGED CROSS

On a hill far away, stood an old rugged cross,
The emblem of suffering and shame
And I love that old cross, where the dearest and blest,
For a world of lost sinners was slain.

So, I'll cherish the old rugged cross,
Till my trophies at last I lay down.
I will cling to the old rugged cross,
And exchange it some day for a crown.

On that old rugged cross, so despised by the world,
Has a wondrous attraction for me,
For the dear Lamb of God, left His glory above,
To bear it to dark Calvary.

So, I'll cherish the old rugged cross,
Till my trophies at last I lay down.
I will cling to the old rugged cross,
And exchange it some day for a crown.

In the old rugged cross, stained with blood so divine,
A wondrous beauty I see;
For was on that old cross, Jesus suffered and died,
To pardon and sanctify me.

So, I'll cherish the old rugged cross,
Till my trophies at last I lay down.
I will cling to the old rugged cross,
And exchange it some day for a crown.

21. WHAT A FRIEND WE HAVE IN JESUS

What a friend we have in Jesus,
all our sins and griefs to bear,
What a privilege to carry,
ev'rything to God in pray'r.
Oh, what peace we often forfeit,
oh, what needless pain we bear,
All because we do not carry,
ev'rything to God in pray'r.

Have we trials and temptations?
Is there trouble anywhere?
We should never be discouraged,
take it to the Lord in pray'r.
Can we find a friend so faithful,
who will all our sorrows share?
Jesus knows our ev'ry weakness,
take it to the Lord in pray'r

Are we weak and heavy laden,
cumbered with a load of care?
Precious Saviour still our refuge,
take it to the Lord in pray'r
Do thy friends despise, forsake thee?
Take it to the Lord in pray'r,
In His arms He'll take and shield thee,
Thou wilt find a solace there.

22. STRONG AND CONSTANT

I will be Yahweh who walks with you!
You will be always within my hand.
Take your heart and give it all to me,
Strong and constant is my love (2x)

Should you wonder far away from me,
I will search for you in every land;
Should you call, then you will truly know
Strong and constant is my love (2x)

When you know sorrow within your life,
I will come! I will embrace your heart!
Through your pain you will discover me!
Strong and constant is my love (2x)

23. SWEET BYE AND BYE

There's a land that is fairer than day
And by faith we can it afar
For the Father waits over the way
To prepare us a dwelling place there.

In the sweet bye and bye,
we shall meet on that beautiful shore.
In the sweet bye and bye,
we shall meet on that beautiful shore.

We shall sing on that beautiful shore
The melodious songs of the blest
And our spirits shall sorrow no more
Not a sigh for the blessing of rest.

In the sweet bye and bye,
we shall meet on that beautiful shore.
In the sweet bye and bye,
we shall meet on that beautiful shore.

To our bountiful Father above,
We will offer a tribute of praise
For the glorious gift of His love
And the blessings that hallow our days.

In the sweet bye and bye,
we shall meet on that beautiful shore.
In the sweet bye and bye,
we shall meet on that beautiful shore.

24. THANK YOU LORD FOR THE TRIALS

Thank you Lord for the trials that come my way,
In that way I can grow each day, as I let you lead
And I thank you Lord, for the patience those trial bring, in the process of growing, I can learn to care.
But it goes against the way I am,
To put my human nature down,
And let the spirit take control of all I do.
Cause when those trials come, my human nature shouts the things to do, and God's soft prompting can be easily ignored.

Yes I thank you Lord,
for the victory that growing brings,
in surrender of everything,
life is so worthwhile.
And I thank you Lord, that when everything's put in place, out in front I can see your face,
And it's where you belong
And it's where you belong
And it's where you belong

25. THE LORD IS MY SHEPHERD

The Lord is my shepherd, he is Lord and I am His guest
Fresh and green are the pastures, where He leads me to my rest.
Near peaceful waters He leads me, to cheer up my cheerless heart,
He guides me on the safe path, He will always do His part.

If I should ever walk in the valley of darkness
No evil would I fear, You are there to show the way
If I should ever walk in the valley of darkness
Your crook and your staff, they will lead me to the day.

You prepare a banquet in the sight of my foes,
You cool my head with oil and my cup now overflows.
Surely goodness and kindness will be with me all the way
The Lord's house for my dwelling, I will thank Him everyday

If I should ever walk in the valley of darkness
No evil would I fear, You are there to show the way
If I should ever walk in the valley of darkness
Your crook and your staff, they will lead me to the day.

Glory be to the Father, Glory to His only Son,
Glory be to the Spirit, glory, glory everyone.
Glory be to the Father, Glory to His only Son,
Glory be to the Spirit, glory, glory everyone.

If I should ever walk in the valley of darkness
No evil would I fear, You are there to show the way
If I should ever walk in the valley of darkness
Your crook and your staff, they will lead me to the day.

26. CROSS, REIGN VICTORIOUS

O Cross, reign victorious! O Cross, Thou wilt redeem us

For all who yearn to see, give light, let darkness cease.
True source of liberty, O Cross, God's seal of peace,

O Cross, reign victorious! O Cross, Thou wilt redeem us

Renew our strength and valour, uplift the downcast man
Prize hope in life's dark hour, to deathless life the span.

O Cross, reign victorious! O Cross, Thou wilt redeem us

Through thee our heav'nly Father, takes us to his embrace
Let man greet man as brother, in Him who saved our race

O Cross, reign victorious! O Cross, Thou wilt redeem us

27. PILGRIM SONG

Man is lonely by birth,
man is only a pilgrim on earth.
Born to be King, life is but a temporary thing,
Only on loan while on earth.

Like the wind in the tree,
man has been rather restless and free.
Thrown far and wide, he longs to settle down beside,
The stream flowing through eternity.

Like the grass on the lawn,
He will pass by the way and be gone,
A lesson to learn, we walk but once there's no return
Time is always moving on.

Man is longing for one,
For a song and a place in the sun.
A home up above, where everyday is lived in love,
For rest when the journey is done.

28. PRECIOUS LORD

When my ways grow drear, precious Lord linger near,
When my life is almost gone,
hear my cry, hear my call, Hold my hand lest I fall,
take my hand precious Lord, lead me home

Precious Lord, take my hand, lead me on, let me stand
I'm tired, I'm weak, I'm worn through the storm through the night. Lead me on to the light.
Take my hand precious Lord, lead me home

When my work is all done, and my race here is run,
Lead us by the light thou has shone, that the city's so bright, with the lamp is the light,
Take my hand precious Lord, lead me home.

29. GIVE THANKS

Give thanks with a grateful heart
Give thanks to the Holy One
Give thanks because He's given
Jesus Christ, His Son.

Give thanks with a grateful heart
Give thanks to the Holy One
Give thanks because He's given
Jesus Christ, His Son.

And now, let the weak say 'I am strong'
let the poor say 'I am rich'
because of what the Lord has done for us

And now, let the weak say 'I am strong'
let the poor say 'I am rich'
because of what the Lord has done for us

Give thanks.

30. LIKE THE DEER THAT YEARNS (PSALM 41)

Antiphon: My soul is thirsting for the Lord;
when shall I see him face to face?

Like the deer that yearns for running streams,
So my soul is yearning for you, my God.

My soul is thirsting for God, the God of my life,
When can I enter and see the face of God?

My tears have become my bread, by night, be day,
As I hear it said all the day long: Where is your God?

These things will I remember as I pour out my soul;
How I would lead the rejoicing crowd into the house of God.

By day the Lord will send his loving kindness;
By night I will sing to him, praise the God of my life

Why are you cast down, my soul, why groan within me?
Hope in God; I will praise him still, my Saviour and my God.

Praise the Father, the Son and Holy Spirit,
Both now and forever, the God who is, who was,
And who will be, world without end.

31. OUT OF THE DEPTHS (PSALM 129)

Antiphon: I place all my trust in you, my God
All my hope is in your mercy

Out of the depths I cry to you, O Lord
Lord, hear my voice;
O let your ear be attentive to the voice of my pleading.

If you, O Lord, should mark our guilt,
Lord, who would survive?
But with you is found forgiveness, for this I revere you.

My soul is waiting for the Lord, I count on his word.
My soul is longing for the Lord more than watchman count for daybreak.

Because with the Lord there is mercy
and fullness of redemption;
Israel indeed he will redeem from all its iniquity.

To the Father almighty give glory,
Give glory to his Son,
To the Spirit most Holy give praise
whose reign is for ever.

32. YES, I SHALL ARISE

Antiphon: Yes, I shall arise and return to my Father

1. To you, O Lord, I lift up my soul;
In you, O my God, I place all my trust.

2. Look down on me, have mercy O Lord;
Forgive me my sins, behold all my grief.

3. My heart and soul shall yearn for your face;
Be gracious to me and answer my plea.

4. Do not withhold your goodness from me;
O Lord, may your love be deep in my soul.

5. To you, I pray; have pity on me;
My God, I have sinned against your great love.

6. Mercy I cry, O Lord, wash me clean;
And whiter than snow my spirit shall be.

7. Give me again the joy of your help;
Now open my lips, your praise I will sing.

8. Happy is he, forgiven by God;
His sins blotted out his guilt is no more.
